I rush to school to reach and see that i'm the first person in class.I thought i would be the only one until slowly but surely few persons came in, totalling 4 persons came to school out of whole heap, i think like 10...if so much...
It was a great attempt by us all to do this facebook page. Each task took longer and longer and i'll speak for myself, it was putting me on the fringe!!! I was going mad!! We all trying to put our heads together to make sense of it all but html and css had it out for us this week...more than likely to fail!..
I could see the Gleaner headline - "UWI student sudden heart attack by the evil villian (dun dun dun) HTML!"...well maybe it won't be that long,but ya'll get the point...It's things and clases like these that make you actually think that group work is important. :)
I tried to attempt each question but it was too late..12pm came too quickly...and...it was like...a stab in the heart to know..that i handed in the work only doing like 2 or 3 of the tasks...It was so messed up...
Some of the pics from the goal were not even in the folder. I had to google a magnifying glass icon on my own...The number one beside the thing was impossible to figure out. From 11am touch, i j ust felt like giving up!
I don't see how it could be done in 3 hours just like that. but c'est la vie...Things are gonna hit you tha you'll never expect...and when it does...you just gotta get up...and...MASH UP THAT FIANL ASSIGNMENT!!!
Hard work is going into that assignment...It's unfair not having internet so i can look for the help i need. I changed my website from my church to about ICE CREAM!!! :) yum! It's gonna be so yummy! I'm calling it iScreamLuvas.com...Like i'm hoping to put it to ice cream brand websites. I'm actually having more fun with this...I'm glad i changed..don't worry sir i'm gonna send you the mock-up. My photoshop expired and i just got Illustrator so i'm working with that to finalize the colour scheme and stuff. Will get it to you by saturday.
Anywho back to work for me...Hard work is "supposedly" suppose to pay off in the end...

Web Design (Week 5) - CSS Continued...practice, practice, practice...
This class was good...
Learning new codes to style a page...
It was mostly about practicing and remebering everything i learnt and incorporating things from the week 5 notes...my page was called Purple Princess which is what my besties calls herself...
We added colomns with header and footer, a logo image and a background image...it was kinda frustrating (i think i use this word in every blog so far) only when the CSS file wouldn't get picked up and i realized that there was the name had a space infront of it! ugh!...like seriously!...
We used <div element in the logo and mainmenu...so that meant that anchor tags has to go in the mainmenu to link or navigate to another page...like:
<li><a href="top">Home</a></li>
also changing the display to inline to make it go horizontal...
...well these didnt actually link to a working page..notice the list element had to be used..the colomns were split into 4 <div so that they could be navigated around the page collectively or in sections...such as using float to tell it to go right or left like:
...we stlyed the page as i said adding a background image (to make it not repeat using - background-repeat:no-repeat)...furthermore, styling the anchor tags so when someone hover it with the cursor it can be decorative, etc... i used this:

[awesome...i kno!..]
a:link:hover { color:white;
background-color:purple;
font:arial;
font-size:20px; }
...so the font size will get bigger and the word highlighted and stuff...
also, many specific sizes had to be used...like the background image had to be 960px wide for the body, etc..
It was a pretty good class...one step towards final assignment...
Wrb Design [week 9] - When I thought things couldn't get more complicated...then came CSS3...
This class was really restless by the fact that our midsemester was due today...sigh...what a relief it was to hand it over to sir before 9am!..All i could think about was the sleep i wanted when class was over. It was the most complicated assignment i've done in quite some time...I got so frustrated trying to get the css to be only one file! My mom kept saying to me "Sasha, go lie down! Sasha, go eat dinner!" and i was like "No! Not til i figure this thing out!" Every minute i kept shouting at the computer! Mommy was like "Sasha, go tek a walk! Go outside or somtin." I still was like NOPE!...
Eventually, i got it and about 10pm i figured out, with a bit help, a way to get everything to work! THANK GOD! I went to sleep about 1am and then got up like 5:30am to make sure i get ready early to send the thing to sir. I was contemplating whether to go to school and send it or find one of my neighbours. Well, cause i live in Portmore and the traffic is very very unpredictable so i went to my neighbour's house...there they don't really use the desktop because the dad has one at work, mom and so has laptop and daughter uses brother's...
Barely any mind is paid to it...but, oh well, by that time, 6:30am, the son and dad left and mom's a teacher doing work on her laptop, so i'm stuck with the desktop. Took forever to turn it on, then to get the internet window to open and after all that...the comp doesn't recognize my thumb drive. So the mom had to send the single files using her laptop to my email and i downloaded it unto the desktop and tried to zip it/compress it them there..IT TOOK EVEN MORE FOREVER! Then i couldn't bother with the stress so i just sent it to sir...sigh...i just hope i passed...
I got to class not too late, suprisingly...After we complained to each other about how hard it was and saw the stress and tiredness on our faces, class began anyway. We opened up a html page and css file, with 4 paragraphs (no id's, div's, etc...).
CSS3 (no duh) is an upgrade (i guess) to CSS2...The selectors and there values are what really differ. For help sir sent us to w3schools.com to look at some CSS3 selectors and their descriptions.
The first one we tried was text shadow:
text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000
That was pretty simple...
text-shadow: 2px 2px 5px #000
(x) (y) (blur (colour)
radius)
To make life a lil easier sir sent us to http://www.css3generator.com/ ....This allowed us to put a border around the paragraphs, controlling the curves at the edges, setting how much it should come in. Best thing is that we enter the amount and the preview shows you and changes everytime the figures.info change. Then at the bottom it shows you the value that can easily be copy and pasted. We even learned how to set RGB colours, how to change each paragraph by numbering it in the css selector and some others.
CSS3 was a bag of complication but turned ou pretty cool...i guess in the future we'd use it and i loved that fact that sir shows us these websites so now we don''t have be calling him every second to know how to do or use something especially in CSS...
...and then we got hungry...and class ended...lol...

Web Design Class (week 4) - Tun up the CSS style!!!! :)
Before i begin...i just gotta comment on that test i got in class...18 out 20!!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!! (doing happy dance)...i'm so proud of me! I studied so hard...maybe if i studied more i would've gotten my full 20...
After this class I feel better than the last one...I find css a little less confusing than the html part...maybe because i just started it...
I learnt so much more styling codes for the css style for the web page...Focus was put on making colomns and how to style the header and footer of a page...we went through the colouring the backgroud and alignment of the paragraphs and adjusting the width of the paragraph, among other things...
Actually most of the terms we used was floating, pading, inline elements and block elements...we used the tags <div> and <span>...
Overall this class has helped me to put my final assignment in better view - adding more ideas for style and linking the pages and what each kind of presentation each page has to make them all unique...i'm making progress to understanding things easier when sir speaks...i might move a little slow but i feel better understanding it at my pace unlike moving fast and not realizing what i'm doing especially when you have to be precise...
Well...thye homework to fiure out how to make a 3 colomns seems impossible...guess i'll just walk into class and hope that sir doesn't say something that make sit seems so simple...not cool...

Photoshop Class - A Bittersweet Moment
Photoshop is something that is like second nature to a lot of people nowadays...i want to apart of that group...so far this class has been opening my eyes to how people, specifically designers, create or produce images that have unbeliavable quality and creativity...
Each time sir shows us something i have those "OOOHHHH!!! So that's how you do it" Moments...
I learnt how to blend more than two images together...my first photoshop image was of course a picture of a dancer :) ...she was jumping and among her was a beautiful array of colours in the clouds...it had a sort of burnning effect...
We have gotten pictures from Sir to practice in class with...
My favourite tool is the magic tool which makes so much sense to how people create certain images - like a politians head on top of animal or something like that...the changing the tolerance level has also helped so much, of course making things easier to select...creating new layers, blending them, making the images...so much has been done in just 4 weeks...i can imagine all that i'll be able to do at the end of the semester...
Best of all was putting the picture behind the text...we used an image made by Fiber-Castell obviously blending the pencil crayon with various things...I did it with a Dog with a but as a pencil and a firetruck with a pencil at the end...
These are all the SWEET part...BITTER :/ came with the process to get to the end product/images...Apple Z was like my best friend in these exercises...but just like Illustrator i realized that i really really have to practice, especially out of class time, for me to get really better and remember the shortcut keys and everything each week...
I appreciate Photoshop class and i hope that i will continue to get better and better at it...

Adobe Illustrator - sigh...i need some practice...
In the first class my teacher, Mr. Winston Wilkins (AKA "Willo") went through what Illustrator was all about...and a bit more...
At first i was like "huh!" with all the terms and keyboard shortcuts...
He went through why people use illustrator which was basically for creating images from scratch, preparing versatile paint-ready materil and carries small file sizes. It sound like just information but it became importnat when he displayed the use of illustrator with the class. He simply drew a cartoon figure on the board with his BB, sent it in an email and open it in Illustartor...all for demonstation...he then used the tools and turned the pixel picture into a vector image...the beauty of illustartor...
The other classes we did things on our own...well kinda...of course with sir's help, talkin us thorugh it...movin stepby step...showing us how to maneouver the pen tool and the keys on the mac keyboard...my favouraite thing was doing the gear and the bomb...never knew i had it in me lol...as in i never thought i'd get it so quickly...well not quick quick but ok...i thought it would be real difficult...especially when sir was explainin it on the board...
So far i've been doing well and i feel that i can manage and by the end of the class i'll be able to properly use Illustrator...i hope as classes go by i'll be challenged a little bit more so that i can definately be sure that i can solve the digital media problems the designing world faces...for now i just think i need some practice...or a lot of practice so that i get to know the programme better...

Wed Design - Week 3...A Slow Recovery...But I Did It!
Week 3 was another step forward...
This class...was kinda like...a game of...snakes and ladders!..yea...
Each time i moved close enough to gettin the lesson a snake just pops up and i'm sent all the way down to the end...(like 1 step forward and 10 steps back)
This class was kinda backward for me...usually i wldnt fully understand until i did it but as sir gave the instruction and explained everything i got it!..but then as i tried it...i was completely clueless...Open that page and the first pge must link to the second page and then a third page and the third page should be able to link me back to the first page blah, blah, blah, blah...that's all i heard after a while (no offence sir)...but i'm glad that i didn't give up...i still went ahead and worked on it till i was sure i got it...did my 3 page website and my two pics for external and internal links...
Also i got some good comments on my homework...which i'm proud off...
Off to study now for that monster *cough cough*...i mean...test...I'm dreading it so so much...i'm just gonna do it...hope that i do well...its multiple choice which is suppose to easier...i hope everyone does well...especially those students who haven't been to a class as yet - may the Lord be with them!..
Links and Navigation - hats off to you...i can imagine my 5 page website better...i dunno what to do it on though but i know it'll be good...my best friend says i should do it on her...lol...i told her "we'll see how that goes..."
